Our Mission

2015-07-25+Market+Common.jpg

The SODA Mission is to prevent offshore seismic airgun surveys and drilling for oil and natural gas along the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf.

We are an all-volunteer, non-partisan grassroots organization formed because of our desire to protect and preserve our local economy as well as the health and beauty of the Atlantic coast.

UPDATE: January 2022

All of us with SODA continue to watch the news for impacts to our coast from those who would exploit it for oil and gas drilling. The threats seem more limited at this time; however, we are all too aware that could change at any moment. Know that while this may not be an especially publicly active time for SODA, we will do our best to continue our Mission and when and if necessary, will be vocal in the community as circumstances demand it. We are in and of the Carolinas and will not forget this Mission. Do check in with us regularly on Facebook; we will continue to post there when news warrants it.

Stay safe and healthy!  All the best from your friends at SODA.

ONE BIG WIN FOR THE ATLANTIC

President-elect Joe Biden has promised to protect our coast with a ban on new offshore drilling for oil and gas in federal waters. Until the final Senate races are decided in January, it is unclear whether there will be sufficient Congressional support to achieve SODA's ultimate goal: passage of durable legislation to prohibit Atlantic drilling into the future.
