  In the Beginning…

Terry-Goffinet-bird.JPG

SODA was founded by Pawleys Island residents Terry Munson and Goffinet McLaren, shown here with the Conservationist of the Year award presented by the SC Wildlife Federation in 2015.

Terry and Goffinet pulled together a group of local activists who have led the grassroots fight against the federal proposal to open the Atlantic, every step along the way, from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration. While core team names and faces may have changed, our mission remains the same!

Read a short history of SODA from its roots in early 2015 through mid-2019 in this March 21, 2019 Special Edition of our SODA e-newsletter.
